A/H1N1, swine flu or just the latest variation of the flu - whatever your opinion of this media-hyped virus, it is worrying people. What can be done to avoid it?
The definition of the word pandemic means that there is little you can do as it is something that spreads easily. There are, however, things that can be done to reduce the risk in the workplace:
- Send home people who start to show symptoms. There is no point in them being there and infecting other people in the business. If they are just showing early signs you may be concerned about them not being able to work but that wont be a problem if you have either remote working or a hosted desktop solution.
- Dont let them come back for at least five days. They should then be clear of the infectious period
Hope this helps
Are you getting an annoying beep sound every time your computer generates an operating system event, such as trying to log on using incorrect credentials? Do you want to know how you can stop this beep from happening? If the answer is an affirmative then follow these simple steps below (with added diagram).
You will require local admin rights to be able to view the Device Manager.
-
Open up the Device Manager (it is in the control panel)
-
Under View, click “Show hidden devices”
-
XP Solution: Scroll down to “Non-Plug and Play Devices” and click the + sign. You’ll see the accurately-named “Beep” as one of the selections. Right-click it and select “Disable”. You’re get an “are you sure?” dialog box and be told to restart. Do so.
-
Vista Solution: The process is very similar as above but you’ll have to double-click “Beep” and select the Disable option inside the subsequent window instead of just right-clicking.
Don’t worry about your audio, it will still function as before but those annoying beeps should have now disappeared for good.
